Describe yourself in one sentence
A little part Southern, a little part complete nerd, mixed with one part soccer mom.

What was your favorite show growing up and why?
The Cosby Show. They were this family of closeness, success and love that I loved seeing. I actually thought when I was little that I could be a lawyer and an OB/GYN at the same time.

What kind of research have you done to prepare for your new role?
To get a feel for the style, I just told Michael Robin (executive producer and director of Major Crimes and The Closer) that I have been having a date night with The Closer since my audition. I am also looking forward to some ride-alongs with the LAPD when I get to Los Angeles.

What made you decide to become an actress?
For me, I started down a path first. My plan was to be an OB/GYN. I was always dancing and performing. But when my eyes were opened in high school that this could actually be my “career,” I never looked back. I had a professor tell me that if you look into the other 20 things you could do, and nothing compares to the high of transforming into a character, then you have found where you should be.

What are you looking forward to most about Major Crimes?
Doing a role that I have dreamed of playing. Amy is fun, tough, smart, complex. She and I fit. Playing her doesn’t seem like work.
