TNT Greenlights Action-Packed Drama Series “The Librarians,” Starring Rebecca Romijn and Executive-Produced by Dean Devlin

TNT is returning to the world of its hit movie franchise THE LIBRARIAN with a brand new series from Electric Entertainment and executive producers Dean Devlin, John Rogers and Marc Roskin. Rebecca Romijn is set to lead the cast of the new series, which is entitled THE LIBRARIANS. Noah Wyle will executive-produce and play a recurring role in the series, reprising his role as Flynn Carsen from TNT’s movie trilogy. Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and John Kim are set to round out the cast as the newest protectors of the world’s mystical treasures, with Emmy® winner John Larroquette slated to play their reluctant caretaker. Guest-starring in recurring roles will be Emmy winners Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin, reprising their characters from the movie trilogy. Matt Frewer is also set to play a recurring role. TNT has ordered 10 episodes of THE LIBRARIANS, with plans to launch the series in late 2014.

TNT, home to more hit dramas than any other cable network, is preparing to roll out a stellar summer lineup of 10 original series, including five returning hits – RIZZOLI & ISLES, MAJOR CRIMES, PERCEPTION, DALLAS and FRANKLIN & BASH – and the launch of MURDER IN THE FIRST, a powerful new crime drama from 10-time Emmy®-winning executive producer Steven Bochco. These six shows join the previously announced season premiere of FALLING SKIES and the debuts of the exciting new series THE LAST SHIP and LEGENDS in giving TNT a total of nine scripted dramas this summer, the most ever for a basic cable network. In addition, TNT’s unscripted crime-investigation series COLD JUSTICE, which is currently in its second season, will join the lineup with a run of new episodes.

TNT’s hit drama RIZZOLI & ISLES grabbed more than 4.7 million viewers to rank as basic cable’s most-watched program for the night. That figure marks the show’s biggest Live + Same Day delivery so far this winter and a remarkable +42% increase over last week. The show is also performing well in time-shifted viewing, with the first two episodes growing by 49% among total viewers in a comparison of Live + 3 to Live + Same Day.

TNT and TBS Bringing “Falling Skies,” “Legends,” “The Last Ship” and “The Pete Holmes Show” to SXSW

TNT and TBS are heading to SXSW, and they’re bringing with them stars and producers of such series as TNT’s FALLING SKIES and new dramas THE LAST SHIP and LEGENDS, as well as TBS’s late-night series THE PETE HOLMES SHOW. On Monday, March 10, the networks will stage two panels during the annual music, film and interactive conference and festival held in Austin, Texas. That night, TNT will hold a special First Look Watch Party for THE LAST SHIP, giving SXSW attendees the opportunity to catch the entire first episode of the action-packed series from executive producer Michael Bay. Eric Dane, Rhona Mitra and Adam Baldwin are scheduled to appear at the Watch Party.

TNT has picked up TRANSPORTER THE SERIES, making the network the U.S. television home for the exhilarating, adrenaline-charged series based on the smash-hit movie franchise. TNT will air the first and second seasons of the series, which will make its U.S. television debut on the network in fall 2014. Turner Broadcasting has secured the network television premiere window for the #1 movie in the country, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, which has taken in a dragon’s haul of $127.5 million domestically and $403.8 million worldwide since it roared into theaters 10 days ago. The second in director Peter Jackson’s trilogy of films based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s THE HOBBIT, the blockbuster will mark its network television debut on TNT in 2016. The first film in the trilogy, THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, will make its debut on the network in 2015. THE HOBBIT trilogy is being distributed domestically by Warner Bros. Pictures.

As 2013 comes to a close, TNT claims four of basic cable’s Top 15 original series for the year-to-date, more than any other network, with RIZZOLI & ISLES, MAJOR CRIMES, FALLING SKIES and PERCEPTION making the list. Mickey’s Haberdashery, named for key MOB CITY figure Mickey Cohen, will be open for a limited time from Dec. 2-4, giving holiday shoppers the chance to immerse themselves in the MOB CITY atmosphere and find some great holiday gifts.
